Schjerning Lustre for Ceramics, 5g Bronze

The result after firing is iridescent or metallic.

During use, always wear a respirator with a filter designed for organic gases.
Schjerning lustres are metal salt solutions.
They are used together with Solvent 174.
Lustres can be layered on top of each other.

Precautions:

• Protect from light and heat.
• Store in a cool place (do not freeze!) and use within 6 months.
• Use in pure form; if it appears dry, it can be mixed with Solvent 174.
• Use appropriate tools – synthetic brush, drawing pen.
• Apply only to clean, degreased, and dry surfaces.
• If the paint is too dry, after firing it will appear matte and may disappear.
• Lustres on glass are less vivid than on clay and porcelain.
• It is recommended to carry out a test on a sample beforehand.
• Prepared colors can be stored on a palette for 2–3 days, in an airtight box for 1–2 months.

Application:

• Shake the bottle; if too thick, add Solvent 174.
• Apply to the prepared surface.
• Allow to dry completely before placing in the kiln.
• Lustres applied directly to porcelain are fired at 800 °C; if applied over pigments or reliefs, the firing temperature should be between 650 °C and 750 °C. At higher temperatures, they will crack or turn black.
• Heat slowly to 350 °C, then fire:
  • Glass: 550 °C – 580 °C
  • Faience: 700 °C – 730 °C
  • Porcelain, clay, stoneware: 780 °C – 800 °C

• May cause allergic skin reaction.
• Causes serious eye irritation.
• Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
• Keep out of reach of children!
• Use eye and mouth protection as well as gloves.
• In case of skin contact: wash with plenty of soap and water.
• In case of eye contact: rinse carefully with water for several minutes. If wearing contact lenses, remove them and continue rinsing.
• Dispose of contents/container in accordance with international regulations.
